Although the sedan has not been spied testing yet, we expect it to be bigger than the current-gen model. The SUV has already been spotted testing in the country and it looks similar to the concept. Under the hood, it is likely to offer two engine options: 1.0-litre turbocharged TSI from the Rapid (110 PS/175 Nm) and 1.5-litre turbocharged TSI (150 PS/ 250 Nm) from the Karoq. While the 1.0-litre engine is expected to be offered with a 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT, the 1.5-litre unit is likely to come with a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch automatic) only. It will be underpinned by the same MQB A0 IN platform and powered by the same set of engines. Taigun will also look similar to its near-production model showcased at Auto Expo 2020. Up front, it features VW’s family look with a horizontally slatted grille flanked by multi-barrel headlamps. The side profile looks clean with a sharp shoulder line running across the length. At the back, it gets Sonet-like styling with connected tail lamps. It gets the typical Mahindra grille with vertical slats and dual-barrel headlamps. The side profile looks boxy, similar to the current-gen model. Inside, it is expected to get a completely redesigned cabin. Features should include multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill launch assist, a larger touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electric sunroof, powered driver’s seat and more. It is expected to share its engines with the new Thar, which gets a 2.0-litre turbo petrol (150 PS/ 320 Nm) and a 2.2-litre diesel engine (130 PS/ 300 Nm).Note: *All prices are expected ex-showroom.
