Berkeley Lab - California - Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s ( ) Energy Geosciences Division has an opening for an Geological Project Scientist to join the team. The position is to develop and apply existing and new Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (ML and AI) tools for understanding and prediction of watershed and river basin function under a range of climate scenarios. What You Will Do: Develop, apply, and verify new and existing ML/AI tools for watershed and river basin function. Develop data imputation and downscaling tools for watershed function dynamics, including precipitation and temperature. Develop and apply new tools for river basin scale biogeochemical transport using ML/AI Collaborate to develop multifidelity and hybrid physics-based ML/AI models for water quantity and quality. What is Required: Ph.D. (or equivalent work experience) in geochemistry or hydrology, chemical, mechanical, or civil engineering 2 years professional experience in analyzing watershed systems using ML/AI approaches. Knowledge of ML/AI as applied to terrestrial processes. Notes: This is a full-time, 2 year, term appointment that may be renewed to a maximum of five years.
