General Job Duties Safely and efficiently drives the Ready-Mix truck to necessary locations, all while maintaining open communication with the supervisory team. Essential Job Duties Delivery of Ready-Mix Concrete Products Communicates with Dispatcher to receive instructions via 2-way radio in truck and direct-line telephone in yard Positions truck under the batch plant in order to be loaded by Plant Operator Receives printed delivery ticket and follows instructions as directed Fills truck's water tank and verifies accurate slump of load, makes adjustments as necessary Safely drives loaded truck to the destination on the delivery ticket and inspects job site upon arrival Works with customers to obtain adequate vehicle access and unloads materials Frequently lifts, carries, and attaches flop extension chutes weighing in excess of 40 pounds, re-hangs chutes as necessary Rinses chutes and rear of the truck to ensure the absence of excess concrete Returns to plant site as instructed by Dispatcher and receives new instructions Vehicle Maintenance Performs pre-trip vehicle safety inspection and reports vehicle condition at beginning and end of each shift Perform daily housekeeping in truck cab and maintenance of equipment, including fluid levels and tire pressure Fuels vehicle as needed Cleans outside of the vehicle to ensure the absence of concrete build-up at throughout each shift Occasionally uses chipping hammer to remove excessive concrete build-up May assist mechanics in vehicle repair Other Takes customer order changes in the field Maintains drivers’ daily reports as required by DOT and Company regulations Performs other duties as instructed by supervisor Recognizes surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment. Communicates with the customer to understand the requirements of job and deal with safety concerns. Education & Experience Requirements Education: High School Diploma or GED Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screen Must have a valid DOT physical exam card An MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is required A Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license with an air brake endorsement is preferred, but we are open to training the right person in helping them get their CDL (must have CDL permit in this case to be considered) Manual transmission experience preferred A clean driving record is required Language Requirements The primary language of Rogers Concrete is English. Excellent communication skills are defined as the ability to: Actively listen for total comprehension Ask questions that enhance the understanding of a certain topic Relay information and/or instruction in a descriptive and understandable fashion in both written and verbal forms Reasoning Requirements Thorough understanding of practices involved in the use of various types of heavy equipment Thorough understanding of maintenance and basic repairs associated with heavy equipment Thorough understanding of safety rules and the ability to safely operate machinery Superior skill operating assigned equipment safely and efficiently Physical Requirements Must be able to physically operate heavy equipment Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand to operate and repair heavy equipment Must be able to work in all types of weather, including extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times Employment Status This is a full-time position, but hours may vary based on weather conditions and workload for projects. We will also accept part-time applicants for this position.
