In this position you will be part of LBNL's Berkeley Center for Magnet Technology (BCMT), a broad interdepartmental center working on an array of superconducting, electromagnet, and permanent magnet technologies and instrumentation for accelerators and detectors. You also will have the opportunity for exposure to a wide variety of Accelerator Technology and Accelerator Physics (ATAP). What You Will Do: Initiate and participate in research and instrument development related to magnetic measurements and magnet tuning of electromagnets and magnet systems using permanent magnets. Use a broad array of instrumentation, measurement devices, hardware design, and analytical skills in the development of measurement instrumentation and methods for carrying out magnetic measurements on accelerator magnets and undulators. Work with the design, installation, commissioning of tailor-made electronic boards and circuitry, signal cabling, signal processing, computer networks, motion control, data acquisition, and data processing and storage. Document and communicate the results of work in reports and oral presentations, including participation in meetings, reviews, conferences, and publications in refereed journals.
