Electron Microscopy Postdoctoral Fellow

Berkeley Lab - California - We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to join the Joint Center for Energy Storage Research (JCESR) at Berkeley Lab. The candidate will investigate the structures of solid electrolytes for next-generation lithium-ion batteries using advanced transmission electron microscopes and image processing algorithms. The ultimate goal is to obtain atomic-scale images that will be used to validate the theoretical models and influence future materials design. What You Will Do: Conduct the imaging of solid electrolytes using four-dimensional scanning transmission electron microscopy (4DSTEM) and cryogenic transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM). Use image processing packages to reconstruct phase-contrast atomic-scale images. Establish the quantitative correlations between experimental images and simulated images. Develop an understanding of structure-property relationship in solid electrolytes at atomic-level. Validate the theoretical atomic models of solid electrolytes. Publishing research achievements in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at professional conferences; contributing to scientific research papers and patents.
