Senior Scientific Engineering Associate (Neutrinos Group)

Berkeley Lab - California - Berkeley Lab's Nuclear Science Division (NS) has an opening for a Senior Scientific Engineering Associate to join their Neutrinos Group! In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse group of scientists across the Lab to contribute to the development and performance testing for scintillating media and photon detectors for large-scale detector deployment. What You Will Do: Collect, manipulate, and analyze data related to characterization of scintillating materials and advanced photon detectors. Test and debug code releases, deployments, and production instances. Serve as a liaison between scientists, and scientific, technical, and administrative support within the Lab. Contribute to the fulfillment of project tasks, deliverables, and deadlines. Publish papers and/or make reports or oral presentations of all the above-mentioned work. What Is Required: Bachelor's Degree in Experimental Nuclear or Particle Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of related technical professional experience in conducting high-energy or nuclear physics research or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of nuclear physics concepts and experimental detection techniques. Demonstrated experimental skills in a laboratory environment including experience with photon detection technology. Programming experience with Python, C++, or other programming languages. Demonstrated experience working independently to undertake coding assignments and perform tasks with little or no guidance. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work in a research group environment, prepare research results for publication, and present at seminars and scientific meetings. What We Prefer: Advanced Degree in Experimental Nuclear or Particle Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or related discipline. Experience supervising support staff.
