Berkeley Lab - California - Lawrence Berkeley National Lab's ( ) Joint Genome Institute( ) Division has an opening for a Strategic Engagement Manager to join the team. The National Microbiome Data Collaborative (NMDC), a newly DOE-funded Lawrence Berkeley National Lab-led pilot program focused on developing microbiome infrastructure and community engagement has an exciting opportunity available for a Strategic Engagement Manager. We are looking for a talented, highly motivated candidate with a strong background in strategic planning, data management best practices for biological sciences, and a keen understanding of the intersection of scientific publishing and data sharing. In this exciting role, you will support strategic partnerships with funding agencies, scientific publishers, and industry partners to support FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable) microbiome data generation, management and sharing. Lead the design of a framework for linking between scientific literature and NMDC-hosted data that align with data release, discovery, and access policies across publishers in the microbiome research space. Leverage existing and establish new industry relationships and contacts to conduct a needs assessment of companies with a vested interest in microbiomes on a product stage/market/sector basis that will inform where the NMDC can be of most value to the private sector for microbiome data science. Lead the development and execution of strategic projects relating to FAIR data lifecycle management activities. Drive cross-functional strategy and management of diverse collaborations. Serve as the external and internal point of contact for key partners, and work closely with cross-functional teams to coordinate the execution of key partnerships.
