Hancock Regional Hospital - Greenfield, IN - Title Lead Evening Shift Technologist MT/MLT(416) Category Laboratory - 7010 Description JOB SUMMARY: Collects samples, analyzes specimens, performs Q.C. performs instrument maintenance, performs necessary troubleshooting, reports results, and assists clerical functions. The work is subject to review by appropriate supervisors and the Medical Director of the Lab. This position requires interdepartmental support activities to more effectively provide patient care. This position requires accurate color perception. Must have excellent customer service. Requires variable work hours and weekend/holiday rotation including some scheduling on all shifts. Must maintain high level of accuracy while simultaneously performing a variety of tests/tasks. Must be contactable by phone for backup coverage. This position reports to shift or department supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be able to accurately produce test results and evaluate variances. Must be capable of consistent, independent judgement under fluctuating workload pressure. Must be able to communicate technical information clearly, both in direct communication and by phone. EXPECTED BEHAVIORS: Must possess the qualities of integrity and good judgement. Must maintain good physical and emotional well-being. Position Requirements CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: Med Technologist (MT ASCP) ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor of Science in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or related science; and/or Board-registered or eligible for registry by one of the national registries associated with laboratory practice (ASCP, HEW, etc.). Addendum: Must have degree in Medical Technology and/or baccalaureate degree in one of the life sciences to be eligible to work the bench in Microbiology. Technologists not meeting these requirements will be considered if they have an associate degree in a laboratory science and are experienced in Microbiology.
