Berkeley Lab - California - Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s ( ) Division has an opening for a Site Construction Manager to join the team. In this exciting role, you will oversee LBNL hired CM/GC and subcontractors in the field to ensure that the project's cost, schedule, and safety goals are fulfilled for a $50 million+ technically complex construction project. You will collaborate closely with LBNL Project Managers to ensure that the requirements of the original construction design document are met and that project changes are promptly addressed to mitigate potential schedule impact or delay. What You Will Do: Monitor construction progress to ensure compliance with plans and specifications and the original project construction schedule is being maintained. Accountable to deliver the finished project, meeting objectives defined by delivery schedule, budget compliance, and adherence to workplace policies. Serve as LBNL liaison with client contacts as well as contracted construction resources. Provides administrative direction to on-site construction manager(s). Ensure that all applicable codes, standards, and good construction practices are followed. Serve as an interface between the CM/GC and with LBNL Facilities, Engineering, and Environment Health and Safety. Evaluate designs for constructability and value engineering opportunities and methods to optimize capital resources. Interface with and represent LBNL with personnel in areas of construction, and construction management. Identify, select, and manage construction service resources related to the ongoing construction project(s). Manage or participate in project teams to solicit and evaluate bids from construction companies; analyze quotes, make recommendations for acceptance, and serve as the professional liaison between the Laboratory and contractors during the construction cycle. Investigate and resolve potential complaints generated by UC Berkeley, Berkeley, and Oakland communities, or internal Laboratory constituents during the course of the project. Serve as LBNL liaison with client contacts as well as contracted construction resources. Provide administrative direction to on-site construction manager(s). Ensure that all applicable codes, standards, and good construction practices are followed. Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. What is Required: Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture with experience (preferably 15+ years) in construction site management of $50M plus complex projects. Familiarity with NFPA 70E. Familiarity with the Buy America Act. Experience in project development through the project life cycle. Familiarity with t Blue Beam and Pro Core, or other industry databases. Experience managing contractors and subcontractors. Demonstrated experience managing change controls, project schedules, and project costs. Experience managing $50M plus technically challenging building construction projects. Detailed understanding of construction schedules and mitigation and or avoidance of potential delays, building energization and commissioning. Proficiency with utilizing Microsoft Project, or P6, to manage a project. Notes: This is a full time, 2 years, term appointment with the possibility of extension or conversion to Career appointment based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.
