Potol Bhaja

Interestingly, Bengali meals are incomplete without a crispy fritter and Potol Bhaja is a classic fritter paired with rice, dal and curries. Potol, also known as Parwal in Hindi and Pointed gourd in English is a small vegetable, which can be made in several interesting ways, but when it comes to Bengali cuisine, this simple fried delicacy is the best way to enjoy this vegetable. INGREDIENTS

250 gm parwal

0 salt as required

1 teaspoon turmeric

1 teaspoon spice chili powder

1 cup mustard oil

How to make Potol Bhaja

Step 1

To make this simple recipe, wash, peel and cut the parwal into half. Repeat the process.

Step 2

Next, take a large tray and sprinkle salt, spices and marinate the parwal for 20 minutes. In the meantime, add oil to a deep fry pan, once the oil is hot. Gently slide in the parwal and deep fry, till it turns golden in colour.

Step 3

Serve the Potol Bhaja with warm with dal, rice and curries.
