Rogers Ready Mix / Rogers Concrete - Cedar Rapids, IA - Laborers will perform a wide range of physical labor tasks in support of workers on the construction site. General Job Duties: All employees are responsible for a basic knowledge of the employee handbook, along with the mission and vision of Rogers Concrete Construction, Inc., and must conduct themselves with behavior that supports these values. All employees are responsible for making the most of their working time and reach maximum potential by being on time for their customers and appointments, checking voicemails and/or emails as appropriate and completing deadlines in a timely manner. All employees are expected to escalate issues as necessary. All employees will specifically be trained on their job duties, however; other mandatory trainings may be deemed appropriate by management for one or all members of the team. Other projects and/or duties as assigned. Essential Job Functions: Assists skilled workers as assigned. This may include jobs such as demolition, carrying materials, or general construction duties. Unloads materials that are delivered such as bags of cement, and distributes them to appropriate location as identified by supervisor, project plans, or specifications. Prepares layout area where construction will take place by properly measuring, marking, or recording openings or distances. Prepares tools and materials for skilled workers such as mixing concrete or preparing work areas. Cleans and prepares specific areas of jobsite as assigned. This may include digging trenches; erecting scaffolding; cleaning up rubble, debris, and trash; or removing hazardous materials. Operates a wide variety of hand and power tools. Directs traffic near, in, or around work zones. Motions equipment operator to assist with alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials. Cleans jobsite at the end of the day, ensuring trash is properly disposed of and materials or equipment are properly stored. Maintains a sense of professionalism on all job sites, including taking direction of the foreman or supervisor. Maintain focus on the job site, including staying off your phone while clocked in on a job site. Performs other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements: Prior job experience preferred. Valid state driver’s license. Language Requirements: The primary language of Rogers Concrete is English. Excellent communication skills are defined as the ability to: Actively listen for total comprehension. Ask questions that enhance the understanding of a certain topic. Relay information and/or instruction in a descriptive and understandable fashion in both written and verbal forms. Reasoning Requirements: Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions. Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change. Ability to work with a variety of personalities. Ability to perform basic arithmetic as needed to count and take inventory. Physical Requirements: Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas. Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time. Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds. Must be able to work some Saturdays and at night, when needed. Employment Status This position is non-exempt and full time. This position at Rogers Concrete Construction, Inc. require at least 40 hours. Occasionally, time over 40 hours may be necessary in order to meet the requirements of the position. This position is considered full time and is eligible for all employee benefits. Performance Expectations All employees at Rogers Concrete Construction, Inc. will undergo annual evaluations. These metrics will be based on the Essential Job Functions of this Job Description, the Company Values, and any assigned Key Performance Indicators.
