ETA Building Manager and Cyclotron Road Safety Lead

Berkeley Lab - California - Berkeley Lab’s Energy Technologies Area (ETA) is looking for a Building Manager and Cyclotron Road Safety Lead to join their Operations Team! In this role, you will provide specialized operational support to the Area Office Senior Management staff on a wide range of projects. This position will ensure compliance of Lab and DOE policies, participate in process improvement and re-engineering efforts, plan, research, analyze, recommend, and implement new and revised administrative and operations procedures, and oversee projects. What You Will Do: Serve as liaison between building occupants, facilities staff and protective services advising building occupants on how to obtain Operations services needed to support their work. Ensure that day-to-day work activities in assigned technical work areas of each laboratory are conducted safely and within established work authorizations. Follow the five functions of Integrated Safety Management (ISM): define the scope of work, analyze the hazards, develop and implement hazard controls, perform work within controls, and provide feedback/continuous improvement. Ensure that emergency equipment is available to workers in the area and they understand the location for access. Serve as the Space Manager & Coordinator by planning and coordinating logistical arrangements for office moves and space related improvements internal and external to the area. Monitor facilities improvement projects from initiation through delivery including planning, directing schedules, preparing and submitting reports, communications, and monitoring budget/spending. Maintain ETA’s Building Emergency Plan. Manage ETA’s gas cylinder cage and Liquid Nitrogen fill station. Serve as Key authorizer for ETA including Badge access manager (SAM) for ETA buildings, Phone Coordinator for ETA, POC for the maintenance of ETA’s conference rooms. What is Required: A Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent knowledge) and a minimum of 4 years of directly related experience in building and safety management in a research, academic or large/complex organization or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated skills in project planning, coordination and management. Excellent planning and organizational skills including the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently to meet workload demands and deadlines, to respond quickly and maintain flexibility during periods of changing work priorities and tight time constraints. Ability to coordinate a team of diverse colleagues to produce high quality planning documents, and to collaborate with a variety of partners on both building and safety management issues. Experience using a variety of cloud-based software platforms and applications including MS Office Suite, Google Apps Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and web conference platform Zoom and/or Google Meet on a Mac or PC computer. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills including the ability to compile information on complex subjects and produce professional high-quality, error-free documents, reports, and presentations. Excellent interpersonal communication skills including demonstrated experience interfacing with all levels of personnel both internal and external to an organization with a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality. What We Prefer: Knowledge of and ability to work within Berkeley Lab , DOE, and UC policies and procedures. Experience working with various Berkeley Lab Operations departments.
