PointSpan PBX Engineer

Berkeley Lab - California - Berkeley Lab's has an exciting opportunity for a PointSpan PBX Engineer. The PointSpan PBX Engineer will be responsible for the daily operations of the Lab's Aastra Pointspan PBX including database management, preventative maintenance, tier 2 HW and SW issue resolution, technical liaison for carrier ISDN, CAMA and SIP trunks and all SIP, Analog and SS7 integrations between the PBX and ancillary systems. What You Will Do: Responsible for the management of Aastra PointSpan trunking facilities to support carrier services and integration with all other Lab telephony systems including voicemail, other PBXs, E911 services and telemanagement applications. Monitor and resolve any issues related to CDR interfaces, call buffering, carrier interfaces, including ISDN, PRI, SIP and analog connections. Perform weekly backups of all Aastra PBX systems, perform weekly preventative maintenance, including CPU switchovers, fan maintenance, and server administration. Actively monitor the InGate SBC and PointSpan systems for unauthorized access attempts. Support the integration between the PointSpan and Avaya Aura PBX. Extend service from the PointSpan cabinets and cards to the Demarc and MDF locations. What is Required: Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience supporting Aastra PointSpan PBXs. Aastra certification to provide software support and the ability to work directly with Aastra/Mitel for resolution. Extensive knowledge of Aastra PointSpan PBXs, InGate SBCs and carrier trunking facilities. Knowledge of AVST voicemail systems, SIP integrations between Aastra PointSpan PBX and telco carriers, Avaya Aura PBXs and SPOK E911 systems. Certified in Aastra PointSpan TDM Voice applications, Aastra Linux Administration, and Aastra PointSpan Software administration. Notes: This is a full-time 1 year, term appointment with the possibility of extension or conversion to Career appointment based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs. This position will be remote initially, but limited to individuals residing in the United States tentatively until 2021 due to COVID-19.
