Python Software Engineer

What You Will Do: Work on a team designing, building, and testing production quality software to power the current and next generation ESnet network. Contribute to network management software projects, including: Workflow orchestration for network engineering tasks Automated network provisioning Network inventory, configuration, and service management What is Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and a minimum of five (5) years of team-based software engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and testing production-grade software preferably using Python, Javascript, PostgreSQL, and Django in a Linux environment. Solid grasp of Computer Science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures, and familiarity with Internet networking. Familiarity with Agile software engineering practices that include testing, documentation, source code management and release procedures. Extensive experience with REST APIs. Exceptional analysis and troubleshooting skills. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team, and to contribute to an active intellectual environment. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Desired Qualifications: Experience working with cloud technologies. Experience with automation tools and frameworks. Experience with network measurement protocols such as SNMP and Netflow. Experience with time series data collection and analysis; and statistics and statistical modelling. Experience with one or more of Typescript, React.js, d3.js, and node.js. Experience with one or more database technologies. Notes: This is a full-time career appointment, exempt (monthly paid) from overtime pay. This position may be subject to a background check. This position will be remote initially, but limited to individuals residing in the United States tentatively until 2021 due to COVID-19.
