SUMMARY The Kitchen Manager / Cook at CenterPointe will be under the Supervision of the Service Coordinator. Monday- Friday the cook will prepare lunch and dinner and will cook breakfast on the weekends and addition to the other meals the cook will have to follow menus within budget constraints. The cook will also keep the Kitchen up to public and state standards. The kitchen will have to be cleaned and kept sanitary including the refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ovens, grill and the deep fryer. The cook will also maintain good relations with the food suppliers and with Second Harvest. Staff will cook appetizing and nutritious meals for CenterPointe clients, CSU clients, and BHUCC clients. This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business. Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment. REQUIREMENTS Education/Knowledge: Graduation from high school or the equivalent preferred. Experience: Must have knowledge of nutritional needs, food ordering within budget parameters, food preparation, menu planning and awareness of sanitary food preparation and kitchen cleanliness. Applicants should possess the ability to relate to individuals and families of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages, educational levels, and economic circumstances with respect and dignity. Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills are necessary in order to work effectively and collaboratively with clients, collaborating agencies, and community professionals, as well as maintaining proper documentation. Physical: Exposure to biological hazards. Hearing of normal and soft tones as well as close eye work. Valid driver's license. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Staff will be required to work with gas ovens and stove, table top deep fry, industrial dish washer. To ensure the safety of the clients and staff, this position requires certification in and adequate implementation of verbal and physical de-escalation techniques (Handle with Care) that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running, and walking.
