Research Assistant (6 month appointment)

Berkeley Lab - California - Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s ( ) Division has an opening for a Research Assistant to join the team. In this exciting role, you will work in the labs of the Yano/Yachandra/Kern groups. You will work on computational simulations of mixing experiments using existing software packages and comparing the simulation results with previously obtained experimental data. You will directly support data processing and analysis during several experiments at the LCLS, Stanford in June and July 2021. You will be involved in testing droplet mixing schemes experimentally once lab access is not restricted anymore. You will be involved in generating an information documentation system using Berkeley Lab’s Confluence. This system will include details about experimental procedures, and summaries of previous data collections at various user facilities to allow easier access to existing data for all group members. Furthermore, you will be involved in the preparation of publications based on the simulation data produced. What You Will Do: Simulate liquid mixing phenomena using existing software packages. Document simulation results and prepares presentations. Assist with conducting raw data processing and analysis during XFEL experiments at LCLS, Stanford. Conduct droplet mixing tests. Assist in manuscript preparation. Assist in wiki system creation and curation to document protocols and previous experimental results. What is Required: Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience. Experience in protein biochemistry. Experience with Kinetiscope simulation software Computational skills sufficient to run existing software packages and analyze generated data. Interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and organizational sense. Oral and written communication skills. For full consideration, please apply by April 29, 2021.
