CCM Health - Montevideo, MN - Description : POSITION: Inpatient Unit Secretary (CNA) HOURS: 0.6 FTE / Non-Exempt (48 hours per pay period) Night shift including rotating weekends and holidays UNION: Yes UNION NAME: Local 113 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of licensed Nursing staff, demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the Nursing Assistant role in the team delivery of patient care as defined by the MN Board of Nursing and reinforced in CCM Health policies. Under the direction of licensed Nursing staff, assists in providing activities of daily living and comfort measures according to a written plan of care for assigned patients. Assists with patient care activities/services of a technical nature, and assists with daily unit activities and order. The Unit Secretary is responsible for the coordination of communications, processing orders for new admissions, outpatients and observation bed patients including transcribing orders, assembling patients’ charts and ordering tests and other necessities. Responsible for assisting the professional nurse with the clerical duties as well as answering all incoming calls and directing them to the proper location. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, the public, coworkers and others. EDUCATION/TRAINING: -Completion of recognized Nursing Assistant course. -Current unrestricted Minnesota Nursing Assistant Certificate is required. -Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. SKILL(S): Knowledge of basic mathematical computations; skill in taking temperatures, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and weight Legible printing and/or handwriting. Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions; to observe and report anything that varies from normal or expected Ability to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with patients, families and health team members Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public. Ability to manage time effectively. Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations and hospital procedures Basic computer skills Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions Demonstrates organizational skills Demonstrates excellent service and telephone etiquette EXPERIENCE: Experience is preferred but not required.
