Realme Smart TV review: Ticks all the boxes | Economic Times

GET IT FOR: Starts at rs 12,990 HIGHLIGHT: Sound outputThe progression from smartphones to TVs seems to be a natural step for most brands. Realme proved no different when it launched its first smart TV earlier this year. The range starts from Rs 12,999 and we reviewed the 43-inch variant (priced at Rs 21,999). It has a full HD panel with pretty standard looks — thin bezels on three sides with a thickish chin and a plastic back. Two downward-firing speakers deliver 24W output. There are ample ports — three HDMI, two USB, one LAN, 3.5mm AV connector and a 3.5mm jack — that are placed conveniently. We had no trouble reaching them even when the TV was mounted on a wall. The display panel offers a sufficient brightness of 400 nits and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The contrast levels are also optimum. Wide-angle viewing leaves much to be desired but at this price point, we didn’t expect any better. The overall picture quality is reasonably good on both HD and SD content. The sound quality is much better than what one would expect from a budget TV. There is support for Dolby Audio, which makes a difference and the TV can get really loud without sounding jarring. The machine is powered by a Mediatek MSD6683 processor and comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. This is an Android TV and the software and user interface is easy to get used to. Popular apps like YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix come pre-installed. You can access Google Play Store for others. The smart remote is compact and pretty standard with volume, mute, Google Assistant and Android navigation buttons. There are hotkeys for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube. The IR re-mote pairs easily, after which you can perform all the functions using Bluetooth as well. Bluetooth connectivity is handy when connecting external headphones or speakers. The Realme Smart TV is a quintessential budget TV that offers reasonably good picture quality and really good sound output. There are many other options from brands like Xiaomi, Vu in this price range but it is safe to say that you won’t go wrong with this TV. - The writer is with gadgetsnow.com.
