This position performs application and system management support activities for the learning management system (LMS) and other educational or instructional technology systems as well as providing LMS faculty support and tier level 2 LMS student support. Number of Positions: 1 Position #: 650870 Department: Educational Technology Services Typical Duties & Responsibilities: 40% Serves as the primary technical administrator for the learning management system (currently D2L Brightspace) in a SaaS environment including testing system upgrades, overseeing new system integrations, configuring the local LMS instance for optimum performance, enhancing system functionality, and troubleshooting system issues with vendors as well as other Information Services staff as needed. Coordinates with other Information Services departments and TBR technical staff on SIS/ERP and other system upgrades that will affect LMS and other departmental systems. 40% Manages support requests and ensures that requests are resolved accurately, in a timely fashion, and according to priority. Coordinates communication to the college regarding service interruptions, both planned and unplanned. Also provides after-hours instructional technology support when needed in order to respond to emergency issues such as a system wide outage. Monitors system usage and generates reports as needed for institutional assessment and data-driven decision making. 10% Creates accounts, maintain systems and monitor use of other systems used by the department, including proper backups and archival. 10% Assists in preparing support documentation and training materials delivered to end users. Required Qualifications: High school diploma with 8 years of full-time related experience Associates degree with 6 years of full-time related experience Bachelors degree with 4 years of full-time related experience or Bachelors degree in related field with 2 years of full-time related experience Masters degree with 2 years of full-time related experience Preferred Qualifications: Certification or training in educational or instructional technology, or administration of enterprise level systems is useful. Prefer certification in administration of a learning management system (LMS). Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience. Scope of Responsibility: Skills and specific knowledge needed to perform this job include: Experience working with enterprise level systems (prefer experience serving as a learning management system administrator), as well as experience configuring systems using role-based security and access controls. Experience working with relational databases. Experience troubleshooting and providing technology support for end users. Experience working with web page development or content management systems like WordPress. Broad understanding of both Mac and Windows applications including Microsoft Office and other word processing formats, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote and other presentation formats. Working knowledge and experience in HTML and CSS is required. Knowledge of Javascript, SQL, and PHP are useful. Key Result Areas: Configuring the local LMS instance in order to optimize system performance and maximize system uptime; successful and timely resolution to faculty and student requests for LMS support; increasing and improving faculty skills related to using the LMS. Location of Position: The primary job location is at the Hardin Valley Campus Pay Rate: $43,990 - $54,450.00/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required.
