What You Will Do We are currently seeking a senior database administrator (DBA) to join our data and analytics team to manage multiple highly available and high transaction level databases. As the technical leader of this team, you will be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of multiple enterprise databases. You will drive the planning and development of databases, as well as troubleshooting issues on behalf of the users. As a senior database administrator you will lead the team to ensure that database performance is managed to expected levels. We will expect you to work well under pressure, have excellent problem-solving techniques, and be able to quickly adapt and learn. Location: Lake Mary, FL ***Please note in light of COVID-19, all of our employees globally are telecommuting until further notice.*** Reports to: Director, Business Intelligence and Analytics Travel Requirement: none Responsibilities Include: Ensure that our database systems are available and performing within standards with 24/7 availability Provide leadership to other DBAs in driving and establishing best practices for monitoring and management of enterprise databases Establish the needs of users and monitor user access and security, controlling access permissions and privileges Monitor performance in order to provide fast responses to the Engineering teams and proactively diagnose potential problems Coordinate and work with the software engineering teams to ensure proper query performance and index management Ensure that standards are met in the designs for planned databases and related entities Ensure that there are provisions for data security and recovery control (ensuring all data is retrievable in an emergency) Install and test new versions and service patches of the database management system (DBMS) as required Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata) Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly Work closely with infrastructure engineers, software engineers, I.T. and security personnel Communicate regularly with infrastructure, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security Required Qualifications: Minimum 10 years of experience in database administration of complex systems using MySQL (primary) Experience working Amazon RDS environments, particularly Amazon Aurora DBs Strong knowledge of SQL, security practices, and best practices for recurring maintenance Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities Expertise in database performance tuning and optimization Expertise in data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL Experience with database continuous integration technologies Operating systems knowledge in Linux and Windows Excellent communication and written skills Bonus Qualifications: Experience with other RDBMS technologies, especially PostgreSQL and SQL Server Experience working with AWS Redshift or similar technologies Knowledge and expertise in the administration of noSQL database technologies Perks & Benefits: Competitive compensation package including discretionary annual bonus opportunity. 4-weeks of Paid Time Off for employees up to 3-years of tenure (higher accrual thereafter); 8-hours of paid Volunteer Time Off to give back to organizations and groups you feel most passionately about; 2-weeks of paid Parental Leave so you can bond with your child(ren) following a birth, adoption, or foster care placement; Inclusive Family Benefits - access to end-to-end support for maternity, surrogacy, adoption, and fertility, with a $5,000 benefit toward surrogacy, adoption, and fertility; Three different medical insurance plans to choose from, including an employer-contributed HSA; Employer-paid short & long-term disability and life insurance; Matching 401K; Unlimited access to Udemy for Business for continued learning and career development; A flexible work schedule around our core business hours.
