Career progression of women would slow down due to Covid pandemic: Deloitte survey | Economic Times

Mumbai: At a time when the hope of economic recovery increases over the possibility of Covid vaccines, working women across the world may have faced irreversible impact on their careers, a Deloitte survey found.As per the survey nearly seven out of 10 women said that their career progression will slow down.The report found that nearly 82% of the women in the survey said that their lives have been negatively disrupted by the pandemic. And nearly 70% of the women were concerned that these disruptions would impact their career progression.“The results of this research are concerning. For many working women, the pandemic is upending their work/life balance and affecting their physical and mental health, and some are even questioning their current and long-term career prospects. Some have cited working longer hours because of the pandemic and others are juggling extra caregiving duties as a result of pandemic-related consequences (i.e., school closures, caring for relatives) while also working full-time,” the Deloitte survey said.Experts said that most organisations would now have to go out of their way to achieve gender parity in the workplace as the global economy would crawl back to normalcy in 2021.
