Dakota Wesleyan - Mitchell, SD - Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota invites applications for the full-time staff position of Prevention Education and Training Coordinator. The individual holding this position will serve as a member of the university’s student life team. The individual’s primary responsibility will be designing, implementing, and assessing ongoing education for the university community across the topics of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. This is a grant-funded position that is midway through the grant cycle. The university anticipates applying to extend the grant in the future. The successful candidate will: Hold a Masters’ degree (preferred) in counseling, social work, public health, or related field; Have experience in higher education student affairs and/or health education with young adults; Have experience with bystander intervention and sexual violence prevention education and programming. Essential, ongoing responsibilities associated with the position include: Designing, implementing, and assessing ongoing education for the university community across the topics of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Chairing the recently created Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) in partnership with the Mitchell Police Department, Mitchell Area Safehouse, Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, and the Mitchell Area Sexual Assault Response Team. Organizing training with community partners for residence life staff, campus security staff, student conduct staff, and other university constituencies. Collaborating with community partners to deliver in-person bystander intervention training. Overseeing the administration of an online educational program to be completed by all students. Implementing educational workshops for all new students as part of orientation (as well as other educational opportunities as they present themselves). Serving as a resource for Dakota Wesleyan University students who experience domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking. Providing direct crisis intervention, advocacy, and support to survivors. Developing relevant social marketing campaigns and promotional materials for the University community to promote programs and available resources. Collaborate with the Program Director on the grant renewal process. Communicating with Program Specialist at the Office of Violence Against Women, traveling to various regional trainings provided by OVW and providing regular reports on the progress of the grant using the U.S. Department of Justice’s Grant Management System. Executing other assignments as requested by the Director of Student Life.
