Shilpa Shetty, mother booked in cheating case | Economic Times

The troubles for Shilpa Shetty don't seem to end any time soon. The actress and her mother Sunanda Shetty have been named in an alleged case of fraud over a wellness business in Uttar Pradesh.The police plan to investigate the two First Information Reports (FIRs) registered in Lucknow. Resident of Omaxe Heights, Jyotsna Chauhan, and another individual, Rohit Veer Singh, filed the complaint at Vibhuti Khand Police Station and Hazratganj Police Station for being allegedly cheated, respectively.According to news agency IANS, a team of Lucknow Police will head to Mumbai to question the mother-daughter duo in the alleged fraud case. Both the police stations have sent notices for questioning to the Shetty duos.The complaint said that Shetty is the Chairman of a fitness chain - Iosis Wellness Centre - and her mother is the Director. The complaint alleged that the Shettys took crores of rupees from two people to open a branch of the wellness centre, but never fulfilled the promise. Meanwhile, Kiran Bawa, Founder and Chairperson of Iosis Wellness, took to Instagram to clarify the confusion.
She expressed disappointment over the "unnecessary and unwarranted uproar".As a responsible person, Bawa confirmed she was the Chairman of the wellness company in question, and the Shetty mother and daughter have no connection with the company. She informed that the Shettys parted ways amicably years ago.The single-parent and a businesswoman further urged people to stop spreading rumours."IOSIS is my baby and a brand I have built over the years. I am more than happy to verify facts with the concerned authorities. Till then I humbly request you to remove these posts as the matter is subjudice in the Hon'ble High Court of Bombay where we have Orders in our favour. Such negligence in reporting defamatory content is causing me and my brand name irreparable damage for which I have taken utmost efforts and pains to create goodwill and reputation,” her post read.DCP (East) Sanjeev Suman, the investigation officer in this case, left for Mumbai on Monday to question the actress and her mother. Since it is a high-profile matter, the police are closely investigating all the points.On July 19, Mumbai Police arrested the 46-year-old actress' businessman-husband, Raj Kundra, along with 11 other people on charges related to the alleged creation of pornographic films.Earlier on July 25, police had informed that four employees of Kundra have turned witnesses against him in the pornography racket case.On July 27, a court in Mumbai sent Kundra along with his associate Ryan Thorpe to judicial custody for 14 days.
