PM Modi calls for continuing momentum in sports | Economic Times
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Mann Ki Baat address, said that the youth of today is focussing on possibilities associated with sports and wants to associate with it. He said India's achievement in Olympics has helped inspire youth to explore those possibilities.He said that the country can achieve excellence in sports only by contribution from everyone. He called for encouraging competition in sports. The Prime Minister said that Major Dhyan Chand would have been happy to see the country's Olympic medal in hockey after 40 years. "We're seeing love for sports in the youth today. This passion for sports is the greatest tribute to Major Dhyan Chand," PM Modi said.He added that the country should carry on the momentum and not stop. "We must not let this momentum stop. Our sports grounds in villages, towns, cities must be full. Only through the participation of all, India can attain the height in sports it deserves," PM Modi observed.Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the morning, congratulated para table tennis player Bhavina Patel for winning a silver at Tokyo Paralympics.
