Trinamool Congress is likely to induct more leaders who had defected to the BJP before the assembly polls. The names will be finalised based on the profile of the leaders and depending on whether one maligned the party during the poll campaign. Names of Rajib Banerjee and footballer turned MP Dipendu Biswas have been mentioned as prospective returnees.“The final decision on the induction of the turncoat leaders will be taken by Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee and party national general secretary Abhisek Banerjee. All the names will be forwarded to them for final decision after initial screening,” party state secretary and spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said in Kolkata on Friday. When contacted by ET, Biswas said, “I am busy with Mohammedan Sporting Club regarding Calcutta football league and Durand cup. If anything happens, I will let you know.”After her thumping victory in the assembly polls, a Banerjee had urged all defectors to return to Trinamool Congress. Sonali Guha, an ex-aide of Banerjee are among those who desire to return to the party. She wrote a Facebook post dedicated to Banerjee in May. Guha joined BJP after she was denied party ticket to contest the Santragachhi seat. Sarala Murmu is another one who defected to BJP before the polls. She was unhappy with a BJP ticket in Malda and thus wanted to return to Trinamool. However, the Trinamool Congress leadership did not immediately allow her return.
