Maxar Technologies - Westminster, CO - Please review the job details below. Maxar is currently seeking a Platform API Lead to join our The Digital Globe (TDG) team in Westminster, CO. Our platform, The Digital Globe(TDG), holds petabytes of imagery, complex geospatial data, an expanding set of non-Maxar sources, and advanced processing and access capabilities to serve a diverse set of customers. What you will do, with your colleagues: In this role, you will organize, prioritize, and coordinate the plan to ensure our core services are implemented in line with our product strategy for both internal and external user bases. You will be in a critical role that will unlock material value for our customers and partners, champion user requirements, and drive the user's needs deep into the engineering process. Responsibilities: - Wrangle Maxar's APIs and champion user needs in close collaboration with our platform and program engineering groups. - Drive priorities with a focus on service interoperability, user value, and business impact - Review core services of the platform and ascertain quality of documentation, ability to support demand loads, alignment to architecture principles, engineering team recommendation support, and opportunities for improvement that will help get traction. - Develop priorities and plan for driving improved coverage and access of API documentation in TDG Core Services - Conduct assessment of customer-facing Maxar APIs, service endpoints, and collaborate with product management, product marketing, and engineering leads to ensure external APIs are aligned to standards - Augment development teams where necessary to ensure API documentation is delivered to standards - Duties and responsibilities to expand and grow over time as platform services scale Minimum Requirements - Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident - Bachelor's degree in data science or related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree - Minimum of 8 years total professional experience and 5 years of experience in geospatial science or related area - Ability to travel up to 10% to team and customer sites Preferred Qualifications: - Ability to test APIs, assess suitability and utility to the user's needs - Interest in and affinity for product strategy, willing to carry the voice of the customer into the engineering process and to drive outcomes that align with product strategy - Software engineering or data science experience to interact with development leads, diagnose impediments to adoption - Ability to assist and publish API documentation in line with Maxar architectural principles - Champion external API documentation -- both customer-facing and 3rd party Maxar-facing variants -- to improve adoption - Ability to rapidly prototype and test new API concepts that inform engineering strategies - Experience with key applications of geospatial data, API standards (e.g., authentication), engineering best practices - Experience as a user of geospatial data in US government and non-government settings - Communication skills required to articulate API maturation priorities, incentivize engineering teams to adopt, and develop measures that track progress The compensation range for this position is $102,000 - $170,000 annually, dependent on skills and experience.
