Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Thursday finally met his son Aryan, who is currently lodged in Mumbai's Arthur Road jail, since his arrest in the drugs case. The actor paid his son a visit hours ahead of the Bombay High Court's hearing on the bail plea submitted by the 23-year-old's lawyers against the lower court's order. This is the first time that father and son met in person since Aryan was detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on October 2 during a raid on a cruise ship off Mumbai coast. The Bombay HC has scheduled the bail hearing of Aryan for October 26 and has also ordered the NCB to file its reply by Monday. Aryan was sent on judicial custody and shifted to Arthur Road prison in Mumbai central after a magistrate court denied him bail in the matter. According to fresh Covid-19 guidelines starting from today, relatives and advocates can meet prisoners and under trial inmates inside the Arthur Road Jail premises. As soon as the new guidelines came into action, Khan took off to Arthur Road jail to meet his son who has been in custody for at least 19 days since the arrest in drugs-on-cruise case. #WATCH Actor Shah Rukh Khan reaches Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail to meet son Aryan who is lodged at the jail, in conne… https://t.co/ozVaVCCfy9— ANI (@ANI) 1634788216000Over the weekend, Aryan spoke to his parents, SRK and Gauri on a video call from jail as the in-person meetings were restricted until today due to Covid-19 protocols. According to reports, Aryan was visibly emotional while speaking to Shah Rukh and Gauri on the video call as he spent the Dussehra festival in jail. Earlier, Gauri and SRK had sent a money order of Rs 4,500 to their son in Arthur Road prison so he can purchase water and food from the jail's canteen. During the judgement on bail application filed by Aryan's lawyer Satish Maneshinde, the special court on Wednesday said the 23-year-old knew his friend and co-accused Arbaaz Merchant was in possession of drugs, and hence there was “conscious possession” even though the NCB had not found any drugs on Aryan himself. In Aryan's WhatsApp chats, there is reference to "bulk quantity and hard drugs" and "there is prima facie material showing that accused No 1 was in contact with persons dealing in prohibited narcotic substances," the order added.Aryan, Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, among others, were detained by the NCB on October 2 during a rain on a cruise ship off Mumbai coast on its way to Goa. They were then placed under arrest on October 3 in the matter and sent on custody. So far, Aryan's bail plea has been rejected over three times. The anti-drugs agency has arrested 20 persons in the matter.
