Job Details: Part-time and full-time positions available for key shifts. Essential Job Duties: Ensures that all applicable Federal, State and local standards are adhered to. Assist physicians in planning for the individual resident’s nursing care. Administers medications. Administers treatments, including, but not limited to: dressings, catherization, suctioning, oxygen, etc. Assists in direct resident care as necessary. Maintains accurate documentation of medication administered and care rendered. Meets with prospective and current residents and their families. Assures appropriateness of resident admission to the facility and assist the Unit Nurse with the admission, as needed. Identifies and promotes correction of problems in service provision or poor quality of resident care. Maintains positive working relationships between nursing staff and other departments Interacts with residents, families, and visitors to solve problems, maintain goodwill and promote positive customer relations. Assist the Director of Health and Wellness with scheduling, assignments, and insuring adequate staffing levels of the nursing department that promote high quality nursing services and meet resident care demands. Supervises nursing personnel and Participates in staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation, and evaluation of nursing staff. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned. Familiarity with emergency procedures and may be required to assist with evacuations. Other Duties: * Assists in admission and discharge procedures. Responds to resident emergency call system as indicated. Makes rounds with physicians and transcribes orders. Keeps physician and family aware of change in resident’s condition. Maintains the selfrespect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each patient. Assures continuity of services and care. Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, management, staff, families, and residents. Operate as a member of a team both within the department and across departments. Performs other work duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions. Registered nurse with a current State of Maryland license At least 6 months nursing experience. Geriatric involvement preferable. Must be familiar with long-term care regulations. Be able to effectively manage and direct subordinates Minimum Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Knowledge of Federal and State regulations, as well as OBRA laws. Ability to supervise and coordinate nursing staff. Physical Requirements/Working conditions: Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the work day; must be able to lift , transfer, turn and position residents weighing up to 125 lbs. unassisted, or with the assistance of one for a resident weighing over 125 lbs. May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally. May be exposed to communicable diseases including the HIV and HBV viruses. Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions.
